First Lady Dr Jill Biden visited Joint Base Lewis-McChord Tuesday to talk and get feedback from military families about how she can help improve employment, education and wellness for our military families under the Joining Forces Initiative.

Dr. Biden was joined by the Washington State leadership to talk and gain insights about military life while touring the first children's museum on a U.S. military installation in the world brought to us by JBLM MWR and Children's Museum of Tacoma.

"Today our visitors learned about how our community is innovating via JBLM CARES and the Spouse Ambassador Program to name a few of the programs designed to help our community thrive," the release noted.

JBLM CARES is a partnership program between Madigan Army Medical Center and JBLM DPFR that helps military families navigate individualized medical care and educational needs for exceptional family members with autism.

The Spouse Ambassador Program is a 16-week, part-time flexible hours program designed to aid spouses wanting to reenter the workforce via a paid internship made possible through partnership with the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Council.

"These innovations are a team effort and we are grateful for the undying support of our Washington community, government leadership and support from our nation for our military," the release stated.
