All indoor church services will begin this weekend, and two gyms will begin weekend openings in October, Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) commanders said during a Townhall on Facebook, Tuesday.

Major General Stephen Smith, deputy commander I Corps and JBLM said 14 days have passed since Labor Day and despite a small uptick of COVID cases on JBLM, they weren't significant enough to change plans on moderate openings on base.

"Great job on Labor Day," Smith said.

McVeigh Gym will begin weekend openings Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for active duty and family members. Wilson Gym will start weekend openings Oct. 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations will no longer be required for family members at all JBLM gyms, it will be first come, first served.

Church service times will be the same times as pre-COVID other than a couple minor changes.  Masks are required at all times during services, there is no childcare or children programs, and no fellowship after services.
