You could take a huge crap and have the Beatles playing in the background and I’d totally watch.  I love the Beatles.  And yes, comedian Chris Bliss juggles to Beatles songs and will be at the Pantages on Saturday, but that’s not who I’m here to talk about.

This Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m., the infamous political satirist Will Durst will grace with Bliss the Pantages Theater stage with his “outraged and outrageous” comical commentary based on today’s headlining affairs.  He’s a comedic celebrity who dishes out political comedy fit for people who don’t like politics.  And that is right up my alley.

Chalk it up as just another day in the life of Steph DeRosa when my cell phone rings and the aforementioned comedic celebrity, Will Durst, is on the other end of the line.

Call me a little nervous, because I was.  He’s a celebrity!

STEPH DEROSA: So, uh, Mr. Durst …

WILL DURST: Please, call me Will.  And don’t even ask me if I’m related to Fred Durst.  The answer is no.

DEROSA: OK, Will, I won’t.  But you have to admit that would be kind of cool.

DURST: Nah.

DEROSA: Darn … um … Will Durst, have you ever been to Tacoma?

DURST: About 12 years ago, I think.

DEROSA: A lot has changed in 12 years; you probably won’t even recognize the place.

DURST: All I remember is that Tacoma was the perfect distance to be away from Seattle if you didn’t want to be in Seattle.

DEROSA: Yes!  Thank you for recognizing that we are, in fact, NOT Seattle.  So, 12 years ago, huh?  I heard someone say you looked like Jeff Spicoli back then.  Do you think you can still pull off a Jeff Spicoli look?

DURST: Ha!  No, I’m a bit chunkier now.  Although I have heard I resemble Eric Burdon from The Animals.

DEROSA: Who?

DURST: Never mind. Let’s talk about current things.

DEROSA: Like Obama?

DURST: Yes, Obama.  Funny how the Nobel Peace Prize nominations closed 12 days after he took office, isn’t it?  Lots of fun stuff to poke at with that issue.

DEROSA: More than George Bush?

DURST: (Loud burst of hysterical laughter.) No, losing George Bush was a horrible, horrible thing … for us COMEDIANS!  Every single thing he did was pure and brilliant comedy.  Losing him left us with an empty void and a lot less material for political comedians to work with.

DEROSA:  Oh, man … I can’t wait until Saturday.
