In the fall of 2012, the city of Lakewood welcomed 10-20 Services to the area. The company was the first of its kind in the United States and focuses specifically on the restoration of tactical equipment. These cleaning services offered an incredible opportunity for military personnel of Joint Base Lewis-McChord to restore their dirty tactical equipment rather than completely replace it, which can be quite costly. While the Lakewood location, as well as pick up and drop off at JBLM, offered Soldiers a way to have their equipment cleaned within a very close proximity to JBLM, 10-20 Services felt they could do better.

"We began to look at how our business was operating and how we could bring the service even closer to the Soldiers," said 10-20 Services associate and Army Veteran Matthew Griffin. "We realized that we just really needed to be on [Joint Base Lewis-McChord]." With that thought in mind, 10-20 Services reached out to AAFES who were delighted to help 10-20 Services secure a prime location on JBLM. That prime location happened to be right next door to the Clothing Sales Store in the Mini Mall located in Building 2202 on Pendleton Avenue. Within a week of approaching AAFES, 10-20 Services opened their new location.

Soldiers coming back from deployment or from being out in the field can stop in at 10-20 Services and can drop off the dirty equipment and gear off their backs to have it cleaned. 10-20 Services cleans and restores items such as tents, pillows, body armor vests, as well as uniforms. Turn around time for equipment is general 96 hours but most often, it is sooner. "The most popular item we clean are boots," said Griffin. 10-20 Services charges a reasonable $6 to clean and restore boots, which keeps Soldiers from having to purchase a brand new pair. Soldiers can also drop of equipment or gear that may need to be repaired as well.

With a location that is now easily accessible and convenient for Soldiers, 10-20 Services is optimistic that their business and their reputation will continue to grow at JBLM. 10-20 Services will be opening another location near Fort Bragg, North Carolina within the next six months.

10-20 Services is open Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, please email JBLM@10-20services.com or call (253) 503-6000.
