They say you only have one chance to make a first impression. For military units and businesses, one way to make a lasting impression is to adorn a headquarters building with memorable, custom-made artwork. Though door mats may not often be thought of as art, the mats supplied by Maingate Promos provide personalized, unique designs that not only make an immediate impact as visitors walk through the door, but also a lasting impression.

Located just outside the McChord Field main gate in the same building as Coinforce, the company formed in June and offers a wide array of door mat choices. The mats - available in sizes from 2 x 3 feet to 6 x 12 feet - not only trap dirt and water and minimize tracking, but also provide a personalized touch to building entryways and offices.

The three best sellers are the Digiprint HD, the Waterhog and the Super Scrape, said Manager Christy Loe. The indoor Digiprint HD style provides the most detail, allowing for unlimited colors and subtle design styles. The Waterhog, which can be used indoors and out, is made up of tiny raised nubs that trap dirt and water, and the Super Scrape, made of fade-resistant rubber, allows for logos to be bonded directly onto the mat.

Prices range from $500 to $1,000 for a 6 x 8-foot sized mat, depending on the style. In addition, Maingate offers multiple-mat discounts; many military units will order two identical mats - one for everyday use and another for VIP visits or formal ceremonies.

Mat artwork can be fully customized - all Maingate designers need is an idea of what an organization would like. Some units will even send in a hand-drawn sketch, Loe said, which designers will then format and submit to the production company. If an organization isn't quite sure what it wants, or has an idea but isn't sure how to put it together, Maingate also has graphic designers available to help.

In addition to its customized door mats, Maingate Promos can provide other unique personalized items ranging from the ordinary, such as unit crest mugs, T-shirts and wine glasses, to the unique, including golf kits, garden tools, coasters and more.  And with competitive pricing, the veteran owned and operated company is a perfect choice for family readiness or other support groups looking for fundraising or gift ideas.

"Anything you want your logo printed on," Loe said, "We can make it."
