JBLM spouse opens salon and day spa

Roy community supports Blissful Experience

Wouldn't it be a delightful occasion to have a day of pampering in a serene day spa with all of your best gal pals? But sometimes it doesn't seem realistic or attainable since we wear so many hats between all of the roles that are imposed upon us daily. Yet amid all of the restrictions we put on ourselves there is an accessible place nearby in which we can escape from our daily toil.  Blissful Experience Salon and Day Spa in Roy provides a delightful retreat in a quaint and close-knit community.

"Once you walk through the doors you will immediately feel the calm," said Stephanie Kangiser, who owns the salon and also works as a hairdresser.  "The name of the salon is exactly what you will get here: a blissful experience."

Kangiser, along with her husband, a Soldier in the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, reside in Yelm along with their three sons.

"I was a fun, bouncy cheerleader," said Kangiser, "and it's kind of funny how I became a beautician."

When she graduated from Tacoma Baptist High School, her parents offered to pay for her first year of nursing school.  With consideration to the following years of her education, Kangiser felt that becoming a beautician would provide her with the income to assist financially.

"I was fortunate to have good experience with top notch salons," she added, "and (subsequently) I could not see myself doing anything else."

Kangiser's husband grew up in Yelm and brought her back to his hometown, which has a large military population. It's a very close-knit community. In fact, the opening of Bliss Experience Salon and Day Spa is largely due to the local support Kangiser received.

"This would not have happened without the assistance of the (local citizens) becoming involved," said Kangiser, a Tacoma native.  "It's amazing to see how a community can come together and make things happen."

Bliss Experience Salon and Day Spa has only been open nine weeks.

"Business really started to pick up over the last two weeks with the launch of our website," said the military spouse.

Services offered range from style, cut and color to body scrubs and more, all in an eco-friendly environment. It's also a great place to escape from the worldly toil and enjoy a piece of heaven while making connections with the neighborhood through the salon's "Community Board."
