More than 160 Clover Park High School Air Force JROTC cadets participated in the annual Pass in Review ceremony May 26.

The ceremony is the culminating project for the students, and allows the outgoing commander to see his/her cadets for the last time and the incoming commander to see his/her cadets for the first time. Outgoing commander cadet Lt. Col. Jesus Rosales relinquished his command to incoming commander cadet Lt. Col. Lourina Foster.

Interested students interview for the competitive commander position before a board of teachers and former commanders.

At the Pass in Review ceremony, Col. Gary Roberts, head of Clover Park's AF JROTC program, awarded 15 leadership, performance and achievement ribbons to deserving cadets.

Over the weekend, the cadets also participated in the end of the year awards banquet and ball at McChord Field and were part of the early-morning Memorial Day ceremony at the New Tacoma Cemetery.

"It's important that my students understand the significance of Memorial Day," Roberts said. "That's why we participate in the New Tacoma ceremony. The attendees and other participants seemed to really appreciate my students' participation and my students take away the true meaning of the day."
