With the holiday season right around the corner we know that everyone is starting to think about the best dishes to accompany their celebrations, no matter what they look like this year. And one of our absolute favorite's is charcuterie boards. They're the perfect appetizer or an entire meal that can be munched on over multiple days. So, if charcuterie is on your menu this holiday season, here is what the South Sound has in terms of meat cheese and accompaniment offerings.

If you're looking for a delicious charcuterie board that requires the least amount of work on your end, we would recommend Stink Cheese-Meat in Tacoma. They will do all the work for you with their Charcuterie Party platters to-go. With three different options and three different sizes available they have all your needs covered. Whether you're looking for their all cheese platter that includes both local cheeses as well as old world cheese and of course, delicious accompaniments such as candied nuts and freshly baked baguette. Or they have an all meats selection that includes five different types of meats, marinated vegetables, Dijon mustard, fresh baked baguette and more. Of course, our favorite option is definitely their meat and cheese selection that combines both platters into one. Charcuterie orders should be called in at least 24 hours before desired pick-up.

Stink Cheese-Meat, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday-Saturday; 628 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma, 253.426.1347, www.stinktacoma.com

If you're looking to venture into building a charcuterie board from scratch the perfect place to start is at the Olympia Farmers Market. Once there you will be able shop all the elements that make the perfect charcuterie board all in one place. Let's start at the market with cheese. Tunawerth Creamery has you covered with both cheddar curds, as well as authentic gouda cheeses from the Netherlands. And not just any gouda cheese, they have tons of flavors such as red chili pepper, garlic and parsley and more. Moving on to meats, you will definitely want to stop by Stewart's Meat Market.  This old fashioned meat shop was founded in the depression era and is still producing quality meats. Prize winning pepperonis will be the perfect addition to your board. There are several options for any bread accompaniment you desire, such as The Bread Peddler, Sanfrancisco Bakery and more! Other sweet additions that contribute to the perfect board are honey, which can be found at Hive 5 Bees. We always like to include a jam, which can be found at several vendors such as Chrisman Farms and Johnson Berry Farm. If you plan to construct your own board, the market is the perfect first stop.

Another option in Tacoma is Metropolitan Market. Here you can get the best of both worlds. If you prefer to make your own charcuterie board, this specialty grocery store has a great selection of meats, cheeses, spreads, chocolates and all other necessary accompaniments. Or they also have the option to order a charcuterie board ahead. Their boards feature artisan cheeses such as Beecher's Flagship, Mt. Townsend Smoked Monterey Jack and other accompaniments such as tart dried Bing cherries and caramelized hazelnuts. You will need to call ahead or stop in the store to plan your future board with their staff ahead of when you need it.
