If your child's birthday falls during the rainy months, the South Sound has you covered. Kids can jump, bowl, paint and skate at a variety of indoor party spots. They'll have a blast, and you won't have to clean up.

Auburn Gymnastics Center -- DuPont

Gymnasts and non-tumblers alike will love this party zone complete with a large trampoline, bouncy house and rope swing. A party host will tailor the fun for your group with a mix of free play, obstacle courses and organized games. You'll have the 18,000-square-foot gym all to yourself for 90 minutes. Typically, the first hour is spent in the gym and the last 30 minutes in a party room for cake and gifts. They even provide plastic drink tumblers and open gym passes for your goodie bags. 2750 Williamson Place, Suite 116, DuPont, 253.302.3536, auburngymnastics.com

Charlie's Safari -- Lacey

At this safari-themed center, kids scramble around a huge indoor play structure, jump in bouncy houses, play arcade games and compete in laser tag. Their Bounce and Play package includes all-day access to the center, use of a party room for an hour-and-a-half and game tokens. The party room is private, but you'll share the center with other birthday groups and walk-in guests. 1401 Marvin Rd. NE, Lacey, 360.292.1600, charliessafari.com

Pump It Up -- Tacoma

Another place for bouncy fun is Pump It Up in Tacoma. This inflatable playground is home to seven bouncy houses in two arenas and a private party room. Their Classic Birthday Party package includes private use of the jump arenas for an hour, followed by 45 minutes in the party room. The birthday kid even gets crowned while sitting atop a blow-up throne. You can make your party even more memorable with add-ons such as bubbles, glow-in-the-dark and character appearances. 3610 S. The party special at Sounders Lanes Family Fun Center on McChord Field includes an hour of bowling or laser maze and an hour of table space. Bowl Arena Lanes, 2272 Liggett Ave., Lewis Main, 253.967.4661; Sounders Lanes, 737 Jackson Blvd., McChord Field, 253.982.5954, jblmmwr.com/bowling

Java & Clay Café -- Gig Harbor

For the artist's birthday, check out the private party room at the Java & Clay Café in Gig Harbor. Guests begin by selecting a piece of pottery such as an animal figurine, bowl or mug. A pottery attendant then provides supplies and helps guests throughout the process. As kids finish painting, the attendant cleans up so you can serve food and cake. Finished pottered pieces can be picked up six days later. 3210 Harborview Dr., Gig Harbor, 253.851.3277, javaclaycafe.com
