The Lewis Community Spouses' Club (LCSC) is hosting its annual Holiday Market at Lakes High School* Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get an early start on your holiday shopping with handcrafted gifts for everyone on your list.

This year, the event will be held off base.

"Our reasoning for wanting to take the Holiday Market off base this year is because, for the sake of the vendors as well as for the club to draw vendors in, we needed to be able to open it up to the public as far as shopping goes. Getting civilians on base without having to be personally sponsored was impossible, so we are hoping this will not only benefit the vendors but also the club (and in turn the military community) by bringing in guests who couldn't have come otherwise," said Rikki Grant-Goble, LCSC Holiday Market Chair.

This year's event includes 90 vendors selling home décor, wreaths, jewelry, candles, clothing, jerky, military gifts, food and so much more. Most vendors will provide opportunity prizes as well. Prize tickets can be purchased at the door for $1 each or six for $5. Bags are placed in front of all the prizes, and tickets are placed in your choice of bags.

The Lakes High School Sports program will provide concessions for the market, and the Photography Club will offer portraits with a special backdrop area. Many of the vendors have been working for months to get their handcrafted items ready for the holiday season rush.

"I am looking forward to being a vendor at this year's Lewis Community Spouses' Club Holiday Market," said vendor and LCSC member Pam McFarland. "I am excited about the new location. Having this year's event off base at Lakes High School hopefully will make it more accessible for all to come visit our booths."

McFarland's business is Salted Vinegar Studios. To learn more, check out saltedvinegar.com.

Admission to the event is $5, but you can receive a $1 discount by bringing a canned good to the event. "The canned goods will be distributed accordingly through our community outreach chair," Grant-Goble said.
