Join us for a Free Family Armed Forces Day Party on Saturday, May 20 at the America's Credit Union parking lot in Dupont from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This day will be all about saluting military families and their sacrifices and is sponsored by Chris Sayre at Origin Point.

This open house-style event allows families to arrive over a three hour period and participate in as many or as little activities as desired. Our hope is to ensure every military family goes home feeling like their sacrifices don't go unnoticed by the local community.

The carnival-themed event will bring all the elements of a carnival people love together into one fun-filled family day! Tons of carnival games with opportunities to win prizes will be happening. Think ring toss, pin knock down and more.

A caricature artist will be onsite doing free caricature drawings as a take home souvenir for families. Get ready to laugh as artists draw your family with elements of exaggeration as a lasting memory of the day. Additional lasting memories can be made in the on-site photo booth, which will be another opportunity to bring the silliness and capture moments as a family.

A petting zoo, glitter tattoos, balloon clowns, arts and crafts and other kid-friendly activities will be part of the day. Akasha Aerial Arts will be onsite doing hula hoop lessons, plus keep your eye out for the lady walking around with a popcorn skirt.

Every event attendee will receive a FREE ticket to the Tacoma Rainiers (while supplies last).

Finally, with a warm day predicted, KonaIce will be onsite with snow cones for sale to help quinch everyone's thirst.

"Local businesses will be contributing to the day with prizes, games and giveaways, to show their appreciation to the military community," said Ken Swarner, publisher of The Ranger and NW Airlifter. "We all are passionate about showing local military families that the community understands their hardships - we want to say thank you by giving them a day all about them!
