Let's be honest here, pizza always sounds good. So when the cravings hit, and they will, we answer the question: Where in the South Sound is the best to grab a slice or a whole pie? We've compiled a list below to help with all future pizza needs.

First up on the list is Salamone's Pizzain North Tacoma. This authentic NY-style Pizzeria is open for lunch and dinner and is a must while stationed at JBLM. They feature different pizza's for slice options depending on the day of the week, or you can purchase whole pies - or try one of their calzones. Cheese and pepperoni are always available. But we recommend trying one of their house special pizzas. Their Spanish Harlem Pizza includes tomato sauce, mozzarella, jalapeno, pepperoni and onions. Their Brooklyn Bridge Pizza features white sauce, spinach, meatballs, mushrooms and roasted garlic.

SALOMONE'S PIZZA, open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, 24 N Tacoma Ave., Tacoma, https://salamonespizzeria.com/.

The Clover Leaf  on Sixth Ave. in Tacoma is next up on the list. This long-standing restaurant features pizza with a uniquely thin crust. The pizzas are hand squashed daily and then dressed with their delicious red sauce and topped with an assortment of toppings. Building your own is an option, but you also can't go wrong with one of their house specialties. Their Breakfast Pizza is topped with alfredo sauce, bacon, sausage, green pepper, onions and scrambled eggs. Or their Veggie which is green pepper, onion, black olive, mushroom and fresh tomato.

THE CLOVER LEAF, open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday; 6430 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, https://cloverleafpizza.com.

Jet City Pizzaoriginated in Seattle, and luckily for us, eventually made its way down to Tacoma. Serving three gourmet crusts made from scratch daily and marinara sauce originating from a small town in Central California means the pizza exudes freshness. A must try here is the Almost Lasagna Pizza topped with garlic, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, sausage, spinach and white garlic basil sauce.

JET CITY PIZZA, open 3 to 9 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday-Sunday; 3602 Sixth Ave. Tacoma, www.jetcitypizza.com.

Next up on the list is Fat Zach's Pizzawhich has a location in Puyallup, Sumner and South Hill. Debuting in 2018 this wood fired pizza joint has been serving up delicious pies ever since. The menus vary per location, but we usually find ourselves at their original Puyallup location. Here we recommend the Fat Boy, double stacked pepperoni, mozzarella blend, parmesan and tomato sauce. Or if you're looking to explore something a little different they have the #NBD which is dill pickles, mozzarella, drizzled ranch, dill weed and FZ's ranch sauce. Or try the Cashew on the Flipside which is pepperoni, pineapple, cashews, mozzarella blend with tomato sauce.

FAT ZACH'S PIZZA, open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday-Thursday; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday-Saturday; 621 Fifth St. SW, Puyallup.
