The nondenominational Christian Fellowship House (CFH) exists for Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) personnel and their families.

"We are a ‘home away from home' where Servicemembers and their families can come and experience the word of Christ," Carol Kohl said.

"It's good to commit to something eternal and strive to lead your family well," Mark Kohl added.

Located at 8918 Rose Road SW in Tillicum, the House is ministered by the Kohls.

At CFH, they work with Servicemembers and their families through sharing meals, hikes, games and conversation.

"The most important aspect of our ministry is that we model what a Christian home is all about," Mark Kohl said.

CFH is affiliated with Cadence International, an evangelical mission agency begun in 1954 and dedicated to reaching the military communities both within and outside of the United States.

During the past 50 years, Cadence has grown from a small mission to an organization with close to 200 missionaries working in more than 50 locations worldwide.

The Kohls have extensive experience working in houses in Panama and Germany.

Not only does Cadence focus on military personnel and their families, it also has ministries centered on hospitality houses, women, students, children and foreign military outreach.

"Sometimes people think ministers live their lives in a fishbowl," Carol Kohl explained.

"What we are doing is asking that you come live life with us, to come into the fishbowl and experience the model of a Christian family."

The CFH is part of the Combined Federal Campaign.  Its donation number is 87133.

"Every dollar received goes to supporting Servicemembers and their families in experiencing a relationship with God," Mark Kohl said.
