To market, to market

Market on Market at 1122 Market Street is having a Grand Grand Opening this Saturday, September 1, from noon to 5 p.m. Come out and enjoy the blues stylings of Terry Dean, sample woodfire pizzas, and check out this new store, now open in full force.

That's right-it's extra grand. The store opened in June, but only partially and with only a fraction of the produce and goods it now has. Now that it has most of its vendors, distributors, and others in place, the Grand Grand Opening is here to introduce you to the grandness that is this store.

"It is a local producers market," says owner Patricia Lecy-Davis. "We are a magnet and a hub for anything produced locally."

Market on Market aims to fill a niche in Tacoma and is almost like an entire farmer's market squashed into one storefront. They offer fresh, high-quality produce, hand-crafted sweets, and specialty foods from gluten-free to GMO-free to vegan products. On top of that, they also have arts and crafts, floral, smoothies, pet treats, and more.

Almost all of their products are local. What's not local is not produced locally. Lecy-Davis also hopes the store can educate on what is available locally and what isn't and why.

Store hours are Wednesday through Friday noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday noon to 5 p.m.
