Downtown Olympia offers a handful of antique stores, each with its own flavor, each fun to explore. The newest addition to the treasure hunt, Peacock Vintage, opened its doors July 7.

From Olympia City Hall, you can see the Peacock painted on the side of the building located at 512 E 4th Ave, the store front has bright and inviting window displays.

Inside, there is Victorian and mid-century pieces, funky and eclectic decor, vintage jewelry and kitchen ware, and furniture - it’s enough to make an antique hound dizzy with excitement.

Owner Jackie Bensley has lived in Olympia for 35 years. After working as a banker for 15 years and managing two branches, Bensley says. “Now I’m doing what I love.”

Bensley has been doing online sales for about five years, and her experience shows, as her facebook page and etsy.com accounts have quality photos and are easy to navigate.

In her store, she takes care to polish and finish items and to provide an open and airy feel. Bensley says she is glad to have an area to display all her items and doesn’t like things really cluttered.

With that said, she does plan to add more vendors to Peacock Vintage, and is enjoying being a neighbor in downtown Olympia.

“It feels really good,” she says, “its nice meeting new people.”
