"Fish Breath" may be one of the most off-putting word combinations in the English language. Something tells me that the San Francisco band Fish Breath wouldn't mind that observation one bit. This is a band that leans into the abrasive. Their recent, self-titled album opens innocently enough with the ramshackle blur of "Harpies & Dry Leaves" before exploding into the thunderous stomp of "The Hole." Splitting time between quirkily experimental rock and ear-splitting noise rock, Fish Breath stun with sludgy riffs and frantically barked vocals. It's not always easy to understand the lyrics, but the feeling of bone-rattling anxiety comes through loud and clear. Fish Breath are currently on tour with hardcore punkers Sexless - another band that would surely enjoy seeing some arms and legs flying in the pit.
