Tuesday, July 29: Chris Anderson

Skansie Bothers Park

By Ron Swarner on July 21, 2014

For its first two decades the Hollywood Bowl was the home exclusively to symphonies and sopranos, but that all changed when Frank Sinatra performed with the L.A. Philharmonic on Aug. 14, 1943, marking its first performance of a pop musician. He caressed the mic, the down-beat dandy cooed softly - and oh, so intimately - to the breathless babies in bobby socks, about 10,000 of them. Sinatra-esque crooner Chris Anderson will take to the outdoors, too, hitting all the notes and making the ladies swoon in the process as part of Gig Harbor's Summer Sounds series. Anderson has repeatedly proven to offer a throwback good time.

CHRIS ANDERSON, 7-8:30 p.m., Skansie Brothers Park, 207 Harborview Dr., Gig Harbor, free admission
