The Oly Funk Fest is an overnight break down to celebrate the end of summer with the proper booty-shaking, beer-drinking, boom-shaka-lakin, finger-snapping, jiving, locking, popping and electric boogalooing that it deserves. Funk Agency, DBST, Polyrythmics, and Eldridge Gravy and the Court Supreme will set the mood for this festival that benefits Safeplace of Olympia. "I volunteer for SafePlace as a Sexual Assault Advocate, and I believe the services the organization provides are absolutely crucial for our community," said Abbie Darin, festival organizer. "Education, awareness and training around domestic violence and sexual assault still has a ways to go for the public, and the more exposure the agency can get - as well as a little bit of funding help - the better. Oly Funk Fest is not an event we organize to make a profit, it's an event we organize to experience community, amazing live music, and enjoy the great Pacific Northwest one last time before the fall comes around again." Camping is encouraged and food will be available from Al Forno Olympia Sicilian Cuisine.

OLY FUNK FEST, 3 p.m., big field, 4326 Shincke Rd. NE, Olympia, $15 at brownpapertickets.com, $20 gate, includes camping,
