Friday, May 3: A Gentleman Rides Commuter Fashion Show

The Broken Spoke

By Ron Swarner on April 29, 2013

It's just one of those days. You're 20 minutes late. You're cranking up 11th Street on your Schwinn because it's effing Tacoma Bike Month. Drenched in sweat you cross over Market Street on your way up to Hilltop Tacoma, cursing the fact that you went out for the fifth night in a row last night til 2 a.m., gasping for breath from the exorbitant amount of cigs you smoke on a daily basis: YES! You arrive at The Broken Spoke tavern just in time. Alex Tapia of RowHouse hasn't begun to play his songs off the new album. The jolly chaps from Feather & Oar men's fashion store haven't busted out the tweed. You stagger through the door and grab a Rainier in a can, ready to witness the commuter fashion show.

You're asleep on the bar within three minutes. Your cramping calf doesn't alarm.
