Bob L. Morgan to read Saturday at Borders

If you’re scaring up something to do Saturday, Oct. 25, local dark fiction author B.L. Morgan will be signing books at Borders on 38th Street. From noon to 6 p.m. the creepy creator of the John Dark book series will be autographing his latest novels, Blood for the Masses and Blood on Celluloid. Morgan will also give on-demand readings of the books to further entice and frighten his bloodthirsty fans.

The character John Dark is the ultimate anti-hero of a gritty, urban detective horror series. After leaving a drug-filled, criminal lifestyle behind, the author discovered a way to use his own experience from that period of life as inspiration and research for his unique brand of counter-culture tales. The result? One hell of a scary, juicy, graphic story.

Since the John Dark Books were picked up by StoneGarden.net Publishing, this year marks the first time the underground author’s shock fiction has been made widely available. Writing prolific horror from his home in Federal Way, Morgan has released three series books over the past year: Blood And Rain, Blood For the Masses and Blood On Celluloid

No stranger to dark fiction, more than 20 of B.L. Morgan’s short stories have appeared in such publications as The House of Pain, Short Scary Tales and The Writer’s Hood among others. Also, Morgan has worked as a staff writer at Savage Night e-Magazine and Sinesteria Magazine.

Currently, Morgan is penning a two-fisted zombie western, Night Knuckles, and finishing up work on a morality tale titled, You Play, You Pay. The latter is slated for release in July 2009. According to the author, the suspense novella contains the perfect ingredients for a horror book. “In the story You Play, You Pay, a very honest man gets a chance to get a hold of some money he shouldn’t have. And really bad things happen,” says Morgan.

For Tacoma readers willing to take on these horror tales, the author humorously cautions he takes no responsibility for any individuals who have nervous breakdowns or coronary distress while reading the novels. “I think the real world is a lot more scary than any movie or book. War, for example, is horrifying. Vampires and werewolves ain’t got nothing on that,” warns Morgan.
