Three-date night

Carmen considers petting the beaver

I promised all of you that I was going to be partying like a rock star all summer until school starts for me at the end of September, and I have direct proof of that for all of you after this busy, wonderful weekend that was packed with libations and love.

During my long-haul work week, my big heart couldn’t wait to get to last Thursday because that’s when the party officially started.

I headed to The Hub for the artist opening for Steve Naccarato. Be sure to check his photographs that are on display there now. While there, none of those who surrounded me could stop talking about Zoobilee, and my own anticipation of that great event was 100 percent infectious. So much so that I was able to help convince The Laywer, The Reverend and The Sherpa to go. Yah!

But before I headed off to that fancy Friday festival, I had to catch the Red Elvises at The Swiss late Thursday night. Before the show, I was busy briefing people on how fantastic the Red Elvises are, and their performance was without a doubt a crowd pleaser. Their upbeat Russian surfer music does nothing but make me smile, especially one of their new songs, aptly named, “I love you more than cocaine.”

I went into Friday a little sleep deprived, but I was so stoked for Zoobilee that it didn’t matter.

After completing the final touches to my look with my black full-length strapless dress, flowing hair and hidden flip-flops, I felt like a million bucks. I then trotted to the Top of Tacoma with The Sherpa (date #1) where a limo picked up Senor Gato (date #2), Jaime and Jason, Eric and Mallory, and some of Senor’s pals.

The Sherpa and I had such immense fun chatting it up with the fanciest of people in this city, he was indeed a social charmer, and we never waited in line for anything because I knew most of the people at the high-volume booths who snuck me food and beverages on the side.

When I saw some of the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium employees bringing out animals, I couldn’t help but say this out loud: “I totally want to pet the beaver. It’s so cute. I REALLY want to pet the beaver.”

After enough food and beverages to create a thoroughly buzzed Carmen, I called My Gay Husband, and he and The Reverend (date #3) found me, much to my sheer delight. They matched, and they looked marvelous. At around this time, Morris Day and The Time were going to start playing, and I can guarantee that I was the most excited girl at Zoobilee to see them. We left The Sherpa with some of his family and headed to the dance floor. The Sherpa found me later on that dance floor being bounced between My Gay Husband and The Reverend, and I was so happy to be shaking it to that stellar R&B with such wonderful men.

My magical tour ended as I ditched all three dates, and scored a safe ride to the Top of Tacoma from K to the K.

I wish it was Zoobilee every day.
