Let’s talk numbers

2121 Pub is my new chill pad.

Each and every single week that goes by, Tacoma gets smaller and smaller to me.

I stand out at my bus stop; I cross the street; I walk into the grocery store, businesses, restaurants; WHATEVER!; and I now know people everywhere I go — more and more each time.

I’m not at all complaining, Tacoma. I do feel very fortunate to have this endless network of love and support, but I have to tell you that it really does take a toll on me from time to time.

Energizer bunnies like me might have the appearance of lasting forever, but we all know that the energy has to end at some point.

If you’ve read this column for any amount of time, you know that one of my favorite getaways is Spud’s Pizza Parlor. Nobody knows me there, no one cares that I’m there, I LOVE the greasy pizza, and I also adore a place where you can openly use cuss words, but at the same time the bartender calls you “Darlin’.” Sweet!

Now, as my life has blown up even more, I decided that I needed to take this social reclusiveness a step further, and I plain and simply had to get the funk outta Dodge.

Not sure where to go, I feel so lucky that my friend from college introduced me to the 2121 Pub.

The 2121 Pub is located near Franklin Pierce High School out in B.F.E. Midland. To be quite honest, I had never actually driven that far on Pacific Avenue before. So, yes, to get there, just hop on Pacific Avenue and drive and drive until you get to 2121 112th St. E.

I did see one person I knew at 2121, but I was sure not to interrupt him because he looked like he was there for the very thing that I’m after these days: To hide out and chill.

The 2121 Pub is a staple in the South Sound area, and it’s been open since 1966. This bar is huge with a sea of four-seater tables, a game room in the back, enough pull tabs to make you go cross eyed, and tasty pub food that’s served up at nearly every table. They also rock 12 TVs (this bar is packed on Seahawks days), pool tables, 15 beers on tap with seasonal rotations and a full bar.

Inside you’ll find tried and true Washington locals and a healthy dose of orange construction shirts with reflectors on the good folks who just ended their shift. Perrfect for a getaway.

I can’t wait to go back to 2121 anytime I need a recharge, especially because lately I’ve been dying as fast as my cell phone.

I’m really, really glad I found you 2121, and I’ll see you soon.
