Dirty laundry

Hanging out with laundry

You’re working two jobs, going to school part-time and trying to have a social life.  When will you do laundry?

Now. But you’re now faced with the daunting realization that you have eight loads to do. Just getting the stuff bagged up and out to your car is an overwhelming challenge.

You’re not alone.

The owners of Laundry Mart near the southern end of Tacoma’s Sixth Avenue know everyone needs a little help now and then and offer personal laundry services. It’s simple — drop off your laundry and they wash, dry and fold it for you; you don’t even need to take soap.

Ironing is also available.

All you do is pick up packages of sweet laundry and get on with your life. Recently, attendant Camber Sullivan was all smiles and very helpful in taking down my special instructions for delicate garments.

Turnaround time is quick — if laundry is dropped off by 9 a.m., it can be ready by 3 p.m. the same day.

The cost is 99 cents a pound for regular laundry and $12 to $19 for sleeping bags and comforters.

[Laundry Mart, open until 10 p.m. nightly, 5401 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, 253.752.6100]
