KISW rolls into Dock Street Landing looking for ink

By Natasha Gorbachev on September 13, 2007

A couple of years ago when I was regularly hanging at the Dock Street Landing Bar & Grill, the crowd got a little too ghetto for my personal taste, and I found other haunts to visit. But lately I’ve discovered that we need to add it back to our list of placed to frequent.

A couple of years ago when I was regularly hanging at the Dock Street Landing Bar & Grill, the crowd got a little too ghetto for my personal taste, and I found other haunts to visit.

But luckily, Little Miss Mini Leigh who works there recently convinced me that I had to go back in and check out how they’ve improved the place.

She and her fellow peeps have made a concerted effort to clean Dock Street Landing up, and I have to say they’ve done a great job.

I moseyed in last weekend, met up with some friends, and we had a great time.

The Dock is brighter now, with cool and strategic neon signs on every wall. The adjoining clientele was fun and laid back, nothing like what I witnessed a couple of years ago. The comfort food is still really good, and the DJ still spins a great mix of rock, pop and light-hearted hip-hop. And of course their deck will always be awesome!

But if all of that isn’t enticing enough for you, I’ll let you in on an event they’re having this weekend that sounds like loads of fun, but might result in a little bit of pain, too.

This Saturday, Sept. 15, Dock Street Landing and its patrons will be kickin’ it with Jolene from 99.9 KISW from 8 to 10 p.m. for the Show Your Tats party. Dock Street will be raffling off $400 worth of free tattoo sessions at both Ink City Tattoo (Bonney Lake) and Tsunami Tattoo (T-Town).

Currently, KISW’s Jolene is hosting a tat gallery where you can submit your photos, stories and the name of your tattoo shop and artist. To load up your own tat, go to www.kisw.com and under “Shows” visit Jolene’s homepage.

As for Saturday, Redsoul Choppers (Seattle) and Ewing Kustoms (Sumner) are sponsoring the event by donating hats, shirts, sweatshirts, and posters for the raffle. Redsoul will also have some of their custom choppers on display in a mini bike show.

Sweet!

Sailor Jerry rum and Coors Light specials will also be running all night.

So if you haven’t been back to the Dock for a while, you really need to hit it up again because I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised, and what the hell, if you show up Saturday you might even get a fresh tat out of the deal.
