Even though I’m your official nightlife correspondent, I have to confess that I’m not perfect.

I wish it was possible for me to be in all places at all times (even though it might seem like that really is the case), but I am only one, singular girl.

The point of the matter is that there actually are places that I’ve never been to. I’m sure that most of you would want to slap my tiny wrists because I haven’t been to three particular spots until now.

Each of these locations comes with a high recommendation from yours truly. Not only are they comfy, but they also will match what I’m noticing is mandatory attire out at the bars: jeans, a zip up hoodie and flip flops.

So here’s I we took an inventory of:

The Goldfish, the North End Tavern and Terry’s Office Tavern. These are all Tacoma staples, and I’m about to tell you why.

The Goldfish is a biker bar that’s such a must-do, especially during the Taste of Tacoma. It’s an inviting place, very cozy with the proper amount of carving in the tables, biker photo albums, a concrete outdoor beer garden, affordable beers and drinks and just enough subtle attitude to keep broads like me in line. It’s located at the entrance of the beautiful Point Defiance Park, and I think the Goldfish plays an important role in that location to balance the greenery with the urbanism that I love.

The North End Taven is an outright necessity in Proctor. With all of the adorable businesses and the snobby people who get to live there, you need a place like the North End to keep it real. This joint is filled with regulars who all huddle at the bar, and they smile when you walk in. This is a sweet dive with cheap drinks, a pool table, and a great juke box. If you want to ditch the crowds, this is the spot for you.

I’m so very sorry that I hadn’t been to Terry’s Office Tavern until now. The older crowd at Terry’s gives it a very approachable feel, so does the U-shaped bar that creates for multiple conversations with friends and strangers. Terry’s is known for one super important thing: Having incredible cheap food and great beers. I didn’t actually get a chance to try any of the food when I was there, but I know I have to go back because every person I talked to there recommended a different item as the best thing ever. Cool!

Now that the weather is finally cooperating, this is your time to get off your fanny and conquer Tacoma by heading to places like The Goldfish, The North End and Terry’s.
