Stylin' in Olympia

hair chat and more at jamie lee and company

By Jessica Corey-Butler on April 5, 2007

Jamie Lee and Company has been an established business for 12 years, but it’s not the kind of salon where the atmosphere is homogenized and bland.

Bright walls serve as a backdrop for cool art, with plants and rainbows bursting through with vibrancy.

Equally vibrant, each stylists’ station is personalized: Eric has his shrine to James Dean (including a rubbing of Dean’s tombstone — impressive!) while Jamie Lee’s station comes alive with collage, and Sarah’s use of toys above the mirror wins me over immediately.

The most recent addition to the team, Raychel, has a minimal approach in her space as yet, but give her time and her space may even be as cool as the wash basin, tucked away in the back with a Lynda Barry  “Poodle with a Mohawk” poster.

I like.

I also like that this space contains not just hair beautifying, but massage by Jade, eastern medicine by Catherine Cegin (certified Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner) and tarot reading and astrology by Susan B. Scofield.

I like, I like!
