I love me a Quickie

Quickie Too is vegan heaven

By Natasha Gorbachev on April 12, 2007

As your personal Tacoma cruise director, in a non-Julie McCoy sort of way, I’m required to draw your attention to the best lunch spot in this city because after a full night of partying, a girl’s gotta eat.

However, the place that I’m about to bring you to is so cool on so many levels that I’m not quite sure if you’re actually ready for it yet.

Thus, I will give you everything I know about the spot so you can be prepared.

Quickie Too.

I have to start by saying that the name is a little deceptive because there isn’t anything quick about it. But trust me, you’ll see, everything they crank out is SOOOO worth the wait. Plus, the best kind of love is never quick, at least not the kind of love that I like.

Quickie Too is Tacoma’s only vegan restaurant, but even the strongest of carnivores shouldn’t let the idea of that cuisine be a deterrent from checking this place out. Sandwiches such as the Mama Africa Burger, the Sloppy Joe and the Plantation Brunch Quickie Too serves over the weekend are all so incredible, and I always giggle about the fact that their menu says, “I didn’t miss a meat,” because it’s funny and it’s SO TRUE.

Not only will you be getting some of the tastiest food I’ve ever had, you’ll be doing something good for your body. This is probably the only thing I do on a very regular basis that my doctor would actually approve of if I were totally honest with him.

Seriously, Quickie Too was made for urban warriors like all of you, right down to its perfect location on the emerging, incredibly hip Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

That should all be convincing enough, but Quickie Too is also Jamaican, and their walls are pulsing with tranquilizing reggae cuts and images of some of my personal heroes such as Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. The Crazy Jamaican Burger is no joke.

The owners and the people who work at Quickie Too are very sweet and wonderful, too.

I know for a fact that there thousands of you who have yet to discover this place, and I hate to let the secret out of the bag for those in love and in the know, but you’re so desperately missing out if you haven’t been to Quickie Too.

Quickie Too is open seven days a week and serves lunch, dinner and brunch on Sundays.

OK, so just GO already, so I can stop oozing.

See ya there, mon!
