Local businesses and attractions thank you for your service

In honor of Veterans Day, many local restaurants, businesses and attractions are offering free admission, a meal, or discounts for Veterans Day. In order to receive a discount, you must show proof of military service such as a VA Universal Access Card, military ID, DD-214 (discharge papers), Veterans Service Organization Card, or Veteran designation on a drivers license. Note that the specials are for the veteran only. Here are a sampling for 2019 Veterans Day freebies:

Applebee's: Veterans and active-duty military receive a free meal from a limited menu at participating Applebee's. Dine-in only. Visit the Applebee's website for details.

Buffalo Wild Wings:Free order of small boneless or traditional wings and fries.

Both the National Parks and Washington State Parks offer free admittance to everyone on Veterans Day.

California Pizza Kitchen:Veterans and active U.S. military members with proof of service have an invitation to enjoy a complimentary meal from CPK's Veterans Day menu at all participating California Pizza Kitchen locations nationwide. Please call ahead to your local California Pizza Kitchen if you have any questions about your Veterans Day meal. 

Chili's Grill & Bar: All veterans and active-duty military personnel can get a free meal on Veterans Day, Monday, at all participating Chili's Grill and Bar restaurants. Commissary at McChord and Lewis are running specials in November to honor the military. Look for discounted items at the endcaps in each row.

Dunkin' Donuts: Free doughnut for active-duty and veterans. One per person.

Famous Dave's:Military personnel and veterans receive a free meal at participating locations only. Proof of military service is required. Please call ahead to your local Famous Dave's if you have any questions about your Veterans Day discount.

Fogo De Chao:Veterans and active-duty personnel receive discounts which includes 50 percent towards their meal. In addition, up to three of their guests enjoy 10 percent off. Visit the Fogo De Chao website for details. fogodechao.com

Golden Corral: Free buffet dinner and beverage from 5-9 p.m., Nov. 11, for retirees, veterans, active-duty, National Guard and Reserves.

Ivar's Acres of Clams, Salmon Houseand Mukilteo Landing: Offering free items like Atlantic Surf Clams n' Chips, Country Natural Beef Top Sirloin, Grilled Shrimp Combo and Tempura Chicken with Ponzu Dipping Sauce.

Ivar's 22 Seafood Bars across the state offer world-famous Fish n' Chips, Baby Prawns n' Chips, and a Chowder Bread Bowl at no cost.

Kidd Valley: Offering free cheeseburgers, french fries and a soft drink to both veterans and active-duty military

Little Caesars: Free lunch combo 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; includes four slices of deep-dish pizza and a beverage. Vets and active-duty.

Menchie's:Veterans, military service men and women with validproof of service receive a free frozen yogurt. Please call ahead to your local Menchie's if you have any questions.

Northwest Trek Wildlife Park and Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium: Free admission Nov. 9-11. In addition, immediate family members will receive half off admissions.

Olive Garden: Free meal from limited menu for vets and active-duty. Includes unlimited soup or salad, plus breadsticks.

Outback Steakhouse: All active and former service members receive a free Bloomin' Onion and a beverage Nov. 11. Outback is also offering active and former service members and first responders 20 percent off meals Nov. 8-11.

Patagon: Seattle's Argentine-inspired restaurant will give away a beer with every purchase. 

Red Robin:Veterans and active-duty military are offered a free dine-in, Red's Tavern Double Burger and Bottomless Steak Fries. Visit the Red Robin website for details.

Sizzler: Active-duty and veterans get a free meal and beverage from a limited menu through 4 p.m.

Starbucks: Free coffee to veterans, active-duty and military families.

TCBY: Free six-ounce frozen yogurt for vets.

Texas Road House:Veterans and active military receive a free lunch Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all Texas Roadhouse locations. Visit the Texas Road House website for details.
