ANNOUNCER: Jackie and Dutch find themselves in downtown Tacoma this week at Savor Creperie. Though one might expect a fancy set up with crepes on the menu, the atmosphere is more like a fast-food joint where you order and pay at the counter and then find a seat to wait to be served. The menu itself however offers unique choices in both savory and sweet.

DUTCH: I popped in for lunch to escape the rain and was happy to see a clean, orderly, and warm place to grab a table. I ordered the ham, turkey, and Swiss crepes and it was delivered within moments despite several other occupied tables. With the crepe lightly folded over bite size pieces of ham and turkey with melted cheese and then garnished with a raspberry sauce and powdered sugar, this is like a lite version of a Monte Cristo.

JACKIE: Savor really reinvents what "crepe" has to look like with savory and sweet options. Typically, we see crepes served for breakfast around these parts, but the savory crepes are divine here. I opted for the butternut squash crepe to match my mood and the gusty winds and falling autumn leaves. It was super satisfying with tender butternut squash accompanied by crisp bacon, feta cheese, spinach and a pop of texture with chopped hazelnuts. Finished with a balsamic reduction drizzle, le sigh. Bonus, a mixed green salad was a part of the meal leaving me feeling pretty satisfied with fast food option that was good for me, too!

DUTCH: Of course, I had to try something sweet before I left. I utilized the Add-ons list to create my own dessert of bananas and caramel. Though not normally a mix on the menu, they were happy to customize it for me by caramelizing the bananas in butter and sugar before laying it on top of a folded crepe, drizzling caramel on top and adding a dollop of whipped cream. It was a perfect finish to my lunch, and I personally think they should add it to the regular menu.

JACKIE: Great minds think alike Dutch. I like your approach but I just had to have the classic Nutella crepe. Warm gooey Nutella dusted with powdered sugar and a dollop of whipped cream on the side is about as good as it gets. And while I was indulging I noticed several folks come in for lunch on the go, which is perfect given the downtown locale.

DUTCH: With the artistry and care put into each item here, the affordable prices, and the attentive service -- Savor is sure to be a staple in downtown Tacoma.

Savor Creperie, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday; closed Sunday, 1916 Pacific Ave., Tacoma, 253.365.5534
