ANNOUNCER: Downtown Gig Harbor may be sleepy with gorgeous views of sailboats and great shops to wander in and out, but it also has a kick-ass burger shop serving up the very best in meat, fries and shakes.

JASON: Don't tell my cardiologist I ate there!  These burgers are stacked high with unique twists on themes and quality ingredients.

JAKE: Though a comfortable environment for a family meal, wine and beer are available here, including several selections from 7 Seas Brewery which is also here in Gig Harbor.  I, however, could not avoid the tempting list of house churned shakes.  I gave the espresso a shot, and it was everything I hoped for; rich, creamy, and full of coffee flavor.  My son had the peanut butter and banana and was equally pleased with his selection.  I wasn't brave enough to try the avocado shake, but if it is anything like the two I did try, I'm certain it is worth a try on my next visit.

JASON: I, too, couldn't go avocado, but I haven't stopped thinking about it.  I think I need to go back.

JAKE: The burgers are truly worthy of the title gourmet.  Even what should seem simple like the bacon cheeseburger, had my teenage son's eyes rolling to the back of his head in pure joy after just the first bite.  I'm sure this is because of the quality ground beef and the thickest bacon I've ever seen.  The mushroom Swiss burger was just as glorious with a huge pile of grilled mushrooms surrounded with an overly generous amount of melted cheese.  And both burgers were large enough to feed two adults, but I managed to eat my burger to completion.

JASON: I went Hawaiian with the teriyaki burger with pineapple.  I like Red Robin's Bonzai Burger, but this spot in Gig Harbor turns out a better one - the meat is fresher, the ingredients less assembly line-like.  I loved it.

JAKE: In addition to the burgers, there are several options that are served as sides.  These selections include, a side salad, blue cheese potato salad, soup of the day, house beer battered onion rings and herbed shoestring fries.  We had the fries and rings with our burgers, and I struggle to decide which choice was better.  The rings are crispy on the outside, and tender inside, whereas the fries are crispy and flavorful.  If you somehow have the appetite to get to the bottom of the fries, you may be lucky enough to discover the herbs that were fried with the potatoes such as rosemary and whole garlic cloves.

JASON: I loved both the fries and rings, too.  I still can't believe I ate the whole thing - burger, rings and shake.  I'm still bloated ... in a good way!  The Shop has a cute location - a small house that sits next to the Beach Basket with views of the marina, high bistro tables, and super friendly staff.  The meals come up quick, and they are super patient with those newbies wondering about things like avocado shakes.
