HALF-OFF WINE

There are no less than three Tacoma establishments who celebrate boozy fermented grape juices each week by knocking half off bottles on certain nights. So, for those who enjoy a reduced-price bottle of vino to share (or not to share) with dinner, visit Pacific Grill (1502 Pacific Ave.) on Tuesdays, plus Smoke + Cedar (2013 S. Cedar St.) and Maxwell's Restaurant and Lounge (454 St. Helens Ave.) on Wednesdays.

BEER SCIENCE

Hands On Children's Museum (414 Jefferson St. NE, Olympia) hosts "The Art & Science Behind Craft Brews" at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23. The museum will host beer tastings, beer-themed science experiments, art projects and more. The $25 admission fee includes free beer tastings and a souvenir glass. Barbecue will be available to purchase. Duh, adults only. Buy tickets at www.hocm.org/adultswim.

DARBY WINE MAKER DINNER

Wildside Wines (608 S. Oxford, Tacoma) hosts a pairing dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. The "Darby Wine Maker Dinner" will present six lovely varietals paired with bites created by Chef Bette Anne. Details are still being worked out but anticipate salad paired with seafood, beef partnered with Bordeaux style wines, lamb joined with Syrahs and dessert. Seats are $50 per person; reservations are required at 253.565.0811.
