HERITAGE BIRTHDAY PARTY

Heritage Distilling Company (3207 57th St. Ct. NW, Gig Harbor) is turning 2 years old. Celebrate this milestone and the official launch of its flavored vodkas from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. There will be tasting tours and specials AND you'll hear the news about their new location, anticipated to open in November.  

LUTEFISK DINNER

Enjoy an authentic Scandinavian dining experience with the Lutefisk Dinner and Bazaar from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at Normanna Hall, 1106 S. 15th St., Tacoma. Presented by the Sons of Norway, the annual Lutefisk Dinner includes open seating and a dinner of lutefisk, meatballs, lefse and all the trimmings. Take a gander at lefse making demonstrations and baked goods and artisan gifts on sale, too. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children, ages 6 and younger are free. No reservation required.

COOKING CLASSES

STAR Center in Tacoma (3873 S. 66th St., Tacoma) hosts a plethora of activities for all members of the family, including cooking classes. These classes are often mindful of proper nutrition and highlight seasonal flavors and fun. Class fees are typically $25 to $30. Here are a few coming up this season: Oct. 25, noon: Halloween Spooktacular Treats and Tricks; Nov. 14, 6 p.m.: Cooking Class with Chef Ron: Fancy Up Your Thanksgiving Feast; Dec. 13,10 a.m.: Baking Up a Story: The Gingerbread Man; Dec. 13,noon, Baking Extravaganza.
