NATIONAL EAT OUT DAY

Sunday, Aug. 31 is National Eat Out Day! What does that mean? Well, grab some picnic goods, to go grub or a little something to snack on and get outside to nosh. Local culinary personality Aura Mae - a previous champion of a culinary face-off with Maxwell's Chef Hudson Slater at Taste of Tacoma 2013 - encourages outdoor dining and hashtag EatOutside. What else have you got to do? Get some vitamin D.

WINE PARTY

Medicine Creek Winery celebrates its 7th anniversary Sept. 6 with a barbecue, music and wine. Beginning at 5 p.m. festivities include live entertainment by Ben Potter Band while sipping on vino and noshing on chicken and pork sliders paired with three sides and followed by dessert in their beautiful outdoor garden. Tickets are $30 online and $35 at the door. Visit medicinecreekwinery.com to purchase tickets and view full event details.

LE DINER EN BLANC

First Night Tacoma is hosting a pop-up picnic from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 11, asking diners to wear as much white as possible. The picnic, title Le Diner en Blanc, grabs inspiration from the Parisians, which began in Paris in 1988, when a man named Francois Pasquier arranged to picnic with family and friends in a public park. To easily find one another in the crowd, all participants wore white, and a chic phenomenon was born. A secret squirrel location, to be announced to ticket holders at a later date. Adorned with white tablecloths, tables and chairs the evening will include live bluegrass and fire dancing. Tickets are $12 and benefit Tacoma's New Year's Eve festivities First Night. Visit firstnighttacoma.org for details.
