BEER BEER BEER

Tacoma Stadium District burger joint Shake Shake Shake (124 N. Tacoma Ave., Tacoma) has added beer beer beer. Wine, too. Beers on tap include Tacoma brewing Company's Broken Window IPA, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Coors Light. Rainier is available in can. Gig Harbor's 7 Seas Brewing's brews will be available soon. Angry Orchard Cider is available to pair with a hickory burger or bacon dog. Boozy shakes will arrive next week, and will include an Absinthe shake called The Van Gogh and a Tiger Tini with Almond Roca infused vodka.

WHISKEY PARTY

If you're looking to get out of town follow Gig Harbor's Heritage Distilling Co. to Alderbrook Resort and Spa (7101 Washington 106, Union) for a little R&R July 3. "Thunder On The Canal" offers live bands, barbeque, oysters galore - including an oyster-eating contest - HDC cocktails and fireworks on the shores of Hood Canal. Kick off the weekend celebrating our countries independence a little early.

WINE TASTING

The wineries along the South Sound Wine Trail offer a wine tasting 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5. Journey through Lacey, Olympia, Tenino and Shelton, stopping at six award-winning wineries. Each stop on the trail offers different varietals of locally crafted concoctions of the fermented grape and opportunities to meet many of the winemakers themselves. CULINARY BOOT CAMP

Get those kids cookin' with the Culinary Boot Camp for Kids hosted by Garfield Book Company (208 Garfield St., Tacoma) next to Pacific Lutheran University. Ages 8 to 12 may take one or all four culinary workshops that provide hands-on opportunities in the kitchen - from kitchen safety to implementing their own ingredients for recipes and all for $5. The schedule includes Brunch Workshop July 8, Tortillas July 15, Soup and Sandwich Combo July 22 and Dumplings July 29, all 10:30 a.m. to noon. Reegister here.
