THURSDAY NIGHT THROWDOWN

The folks at Valhalla Coffee Co (3928 Sixth Ave., Tacoma) take their roasted bean biz seriously and prove it by hosting #TNTNW - aka Thursday Night Throwdown Northwest - showcasing local barista talents making latte art from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 27. The $5-buy-in-winner-takes -all event is open to the public. Festivities include beer, pizza, prizes and like-minded individuals for those who appreciate the fine art of coffee.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS IPA

Puyallup River Alehouse (120 South Meridian, Puyallup) still feeling the joyous aftershocks of the Hawks Super Bowl win by releasing their new brew, We Are The Champions IPA Friday, Feb. 28. To pair perfectly with their new pint of hops, they are hosting a taco night, beginning at 5 p.m. Puyallup River Alehouse has partnership with Sweet and Savory catering, so hand-fried corn tortillas and fresh ingredients will be paired with the newbie brew, which drops at 7:30 p.m.

SUKUYAKI DINNER

The Tacoma Buddhist Temple (1717 Fawcett Ave., Tacoma) invites the community to join them in its 52nd annual Sukiyaki Dinner 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2. Participants may enjoy traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine - sukiyaki in particular. This one pot meal staple concocted of sliced beef, saifun noodles, tofu, green onions and other veggies will be served alongside chicken teriyaki, beef kabobs, mochi cupcakes and ice cream. Dishes vary in price from $2-$12.
