TOAST TO FRANK HERBERT

The brilliant literary minds of Post Defiance and King's Books partner with Tacoma author Erik Hanberg and Hilltop Kitchen (913 Martin Luther King Way, Tacoma) to raise a glass to local literary giant Frank Herbert, author of the Dune series. From 7-10 p.m.  Tuesday, Oct. 8 "Cocktails Through a Still Suit, A Toast to Frank Herbert" will likely include rubbing elbows with fellow lovers of the written word and will certainly include intriguing cocktails with HK co-owner Chris Keil at the helm of the bar. Take the Harkonnen cocktail - a blend of mezcal, rum, and smoked demerara salt, said to "explore the darker side of the Dune universe" - and tell us you aren't compelled to try one. Books will also be available for purchase on site.
