Tacoma Buddhist Temple salutes autumn with a Fall Food and Crafts Bazaar from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. Inside the Temple (1717 S. Fawcett, Tacoma), visitors may nibble freshly prepared Japanese delights such as kabobs, chow mien curry and udon noodles, just to name a few. A bake sale is for dessert offering mochi cupcakes and daifuku mocha for those with room. Admission is free, with food items costing anywhere from $1 to $9.

LA PETITIE CHEF ACADEMY

Bayview School of Cooking (516 W. Fourth Ave., Olympia) doesn't just have instructional courses for the moms and pops, they also host a La Petite Chef Academy for the minis. Well aware of the calendar, BSC offers a Thanksgiving Day themed class called The Pilgrim's Plate from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. Linda Hunter will walk the smalls through tasty dishes such as new world chili pumpkin mousse and a pumpkin seed and dried cranberry trail mix. This course is hands on fun for the young chefs: ages 5-8 at 9 a.m. ($25) and 9-13 at 1 p.m. ($35). The "big kids" course includes a custard filled cornbread and fun Thanksgiving Day culinary history. Register at 360.754.1448.

NEW LOCAL WHISKEY

Heritage Distilling Co. (3207 57th Court NW, Gig Harbor) is celebrating a one-two punch Nov. 2 with its one-year anniversary and the release of its newest spirit Elk Rider Blended Whiskey. Beginning at 10 a.m. lovers of the craft spirits can imbibe delectable pastries paired with Cutter's Point Coffee, which includes a special whiskey caramel macchiato featuring Heritage's whiskey caramel sauce made by Carter's Chocolate. Sample the spirits, take a tour, join its Cask Club, but whatever you do, be the one of the first 100 to purchase a bottle of Elk Rider Blended Whiskey to receive a signed bottle from the Master Distiller Justin Stiefel.

JUNIOR TOP CHEF

Chambers Bay Grill (6320 Grandview Dr., University Place) also hosts a cooking class for the juniors. Chef Josh Corcoran offers Junior Top Chef, a course filled with basic kitchen etiquette with a focus on dessert. Students can then test their skills preparing a formal dinner for their own special guests. Junior Top Chef kicks off at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 and runs through Dec. 3. MATADOR BIRTHDAY

Saturday, Nov. 9 marks the seventh anniversary of the Matador (721 Pacific Ave., Tacoma). The gourmet Tex-Mex spot celebrates the entire day with $5 tamarind or cucumber jalapeño margaritas and $5 raved about happy hour staple nachos and empanadas.
