ART AND WINE WALK

Close your eyes and imagine strolling through charming shops and restaurants, eyeing art from local artists all the while sipping on vino. Sounds nice, doesn't it? Saturday, Oct. 5 tour a variety of downtown Puyallup establishments during the annual Art and Wine Walk. For $25 presale or $30 day of, you may sample of several varietals from Washington to Spain paired with light nibbles and live entertainment at more than 15 host sites throughout the business district. POURING PICASSO

Open Arts Studio (109 N. Tacoma Ave., Tacoma) and Art House Cafe join forces to host a unique opportunity of creative flare and boozy juices from the vine called Pouring Picasso. Paint, sculpt or throw on the wheel while sipping on wines paired with culinary delights for $40. Your next opportunity is 6:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. HOMEBREWING

Getting involved in homebrew doesn't take a background in the culinary arts. All you need is a passion for beer and some interest in the creation of it. From 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 the Gig Harbor Public Library (4424 Point Fosdick Dr. NW, Gig Harbor) will be hosting a homebrewing course. Learn about styles of the hops, what equipment you need and a mostly hands on, step-by-step instruction to get you started to whipping up your own brews at home. This event is free to attend.

MICRO-BEER TASTING

Are you prepared for the almighty month of October and its many beer-drinking opportunities? Maybe you need a warm-up. From 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 the Sumner Downtown Association hosts the Harvest Fest Micro-Beer Tasting perfect for working your stein-lifting muscles. For $20 you may taste more than 37 brewskis from the likes of Harmon Brewing, Powerhouse Brewery, Northwest Brewing Company and Seven Brides Brewing, paired with German music and German grub.
