STAR Center's (3873 S. 66th St., Tacoma) wellness coach Laurie Larson will be instructing "Fresh and Healthy Summer Desserts" - a fresh take on berry bountiful desserts - at 6 p.m. Monday, July 8. Boot camp for kids can sound daunting, unless of course it's Culinary Boot Camp for Kids! Garfield Book Company at PLU (208 Garfield St., Tacoma) is hosting one such boot camp at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9. PLU's Dining and Culinary Services will guide four, hands-on cooking events geared toward ages 8-12 with kitchen safety and cooking skills in mind. Better yet, all events are free and no registration is necessary. Learn 'em early!


Fife is joining the farm fresh food times with its own farmers market set to take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday. Centered around Fife City Hall and Centennial Park (5411 23rd St. E., Fife), the market will host local produce finds, arts and crafts as well as some prepared delicacies.


Stadium District is beginning a new venture this summer. Stadium Fare, an open-air market, will be held every other Saturday beginning July 6 through late September. The First Presbyterian Church parking lot (20 Tacoma Ave. S., Tacoma) will fill with local food and vintage and artistic wares concerts. Attendees can also anticipate live entertainment. Check out
