ART AND WINE

Morso Wine Bar (9014 Peacock Hill Ave., Gig Harbor) will host an artist reception welcoming local artist, Pat Meras' "A Fleeting Moment in Time" exhibition from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 7. The show will be on display until July 11, though the reception festivities give you the opportunity to mix and mingle with the artist herself and admire Meras' vivid landscape pieces.

TOURING THE RHONE

Proctor District's wine connoisseurs at Pour at Four (3814 N. 26th St., Tacoma) will be Touring the Rhone Valley June 11. Toward the tail end of their tour series, Pour at Four will be journeying to France's Rhone Valley. Not only is the tasting complimentary, but it is teeming with loads of vino knowledge. Tasting runs 5:20-8 p.m.

DICK STEIN DOES HISTORY

Dick Stein - co-host and producer of KPLU's "Food for Thought" show - will visit Fort Nisqually's "What's Cooking at Fort Nisqually" June 15. Competitors will have a cook off, featuring cuisine of the 1850s, in hopes of being handsomely rewarded with the "Golden Skillet" and bragging rights. The event runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include re-enactors cooking on a wood stove, campfires and other archaic means. As well as churning butter re-enactors will perform the duties of blacksmiths, trappers, laundresses and average citizens of that era. Visitors will get a little education of how we cooked and presented our meals in the 1800s and enjoy loads of hands on activities and experiences. The Fort Nisqually Living History Museum is at Point Defiance Park, 5400 N. Pearl in Tacoma.
