Sugar, vanilla and a little chocolate and elbow grease add up to sweet success for Sumner business Madyson's Marshmallows, owned by Breeze and Brian Wetzel. Madyson's will be part of Williams-Sonoma Bellevue Square's Artisan Market May 4 and June 1, after successfully participating in March.

"It's such a privilege to have the opportunity to sell our products to Williams-Sonoma customers in their store," says Breeze. "The staff is very helpful and supportive of this unique way to promote small, local businesses, and the customers really respond well to our products. They love the opportunity to buy local and right inside their favorite store."

Madyson's Marshmallows was born out of the curiosity of the Wetzels' then four-year-old daughter, Madyson, who asked them how a marshmallow is made. They got in the kitchen together and made a batch, dipped them in chocolate, and the rest is history. After becoming a hit with family, friends and coworkers, they moved into a commercial kitchen and now sell their handcrafted marshmallows through their website and through specialty food stores locally nationwide. This year, Madyson's was sold in 30 stores nationwide, including Bed, Bath and Beyond on the East Coast.

Locally, get your chocolate dipped and stuffed marshmallows for roasting at Tea Madame and Ciarrai Jeanne Confections in Sumner, Kristy's Boutique in Puyallup and Thompson's Furniture and Gifts in Tumwater. They will soon be available at Brown & Haley in Tacoma.

MADYSON'S MARSHMALLOWS, noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 4 and Saturday, June 1, Williams-Sonoma Bellevue Square's Artisan Market, 575 Bellevue Square, Bellevue, 253.350.3699
