DESSERT AND DIVINATION

Thursday, March 14 Crescent Moon Gifts (2712 Sixth Ave., Tacoma) will take the bake sale to a new level. Its Dessert and Divination offers baked goodies, shop and snag sweet swag like bracelets, tees and uh, more baked goods - with all proceeds going to support the Central Puget Sound Pagan Pride Day (say that three times fast). Crescent Moon knows how to throw a fundraiser. Also with every $10 dessert purchase attendees will receive a free 10-minute reading. Festivities run from 4 to 7 p.m.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IVAR

You'll be hard-pressed to find a meal for $1.08. You can't even buy freakin' coffee for $1.08. Tuesday, March 19 would have been Ivar Haglund's 108th birthday, he of Ivar's restaurant fame. Wait for it ... wait ... for ... it. Yes, the first 108 the walk through the Ivar's in Tacoma, Lakewood and Puyallup will receive a complimentary blueberry cake pop. If you utter the phrase, "Happy Birthday Ivar," then you'll receive an order of fish and chips for $1.08 if you purchase one at full price.

CHAMPIONS FOR YOUTH BREAKFAST

The Champions for Youth Breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. Thursday, March 28 at the Old Country Buffet in the Lakewood Towne Center. The event includes breakfast and words from keynote speaker David Pritchard, assistant football coach at Clover Park High School and author of Going Public: Your Child Can Thrive in Public School. Tickets cost $50 with proceeds benefiting Lakewood Communities in Schools, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. VILLA GROVE

The Weekly Volcano has heard whispers of a gas station market on Olympia's Littlerock Road in Olympia that boasts of some amazing eggrolls. OK, we received an email. Still, the rumor has it the gas station's deli, Villa Grove Foodliner, has the best eggrolls in the whole wide world. So good in fact Bayview School of Cooking is hosting a Hands-on Exemplary Eggrolls course for those who wish to emulate these to die for nibbles. Yang Joo Na's recipes will be shared for pork and shrimp eggrolls as well as a krab and cheese eggrolls, as well as her popular fried rice and sweet and sour dipped sauce. The course is $50.
