SIP, SWIRL AND SHARE

Wildside Wine (608 S. Oxford, Tacoma) will host a dinner and blind wine tasting pairing at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22. Sip, swirl and compare Syrah and Shiraz varietals from all around the world as you nibble on the likes of beef bourguignon on potato puree and a poached pear and bleu cheese salad. The feast is $30, though RSVP is required to insure enough for everyone. All wines being sampled will be available at a 15 percent discount that evening.

WINE DINNER

El Gaucho (2119 Pacific Ave., Tacoma) sets the tone for any dining experience with a piano man and dim lights, including a Woodward Canyon Winery Dinner at 7 p.m. Friday Feb. 22. The dinner features six small plates each paired with a complementing vino. Dinner is $95. Reservations are required at 253.272.1510.

DESSERT CLASS

The Weekly Volcano is your source for cooking class information. Here's another one. Metro Parks presents Decadent Desserts, a baking class, from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at the STAR Center (3873 S. 66th St., Tacoma). Chef Ron Rzewnicki will share his favorite basic desserts and the secret to transforming yourself into Betty effing Crocker. Price is $24 for non-residents and $26 for residents and includes recipes of featured desserts and samples. Reserve your spot at 253.404.3939.

BREAKING BREAD

In case you missed the review on our blog Spew, Marrow Kitchen + Bar (2717 Sixth Ave., Tacoma) now serves Sunday brunch. Concocting exquisite, non-traditional breakfast staples for the more adventurous morning birds, "Breaking Bread" runs every Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The establishment is 21+ so it's a good excuse to ditch the kiddies and have a peaceful morning experience.
