CUPCAKE PARTY

The city of Lacey has just climbed a few notches on the coolness ladder, bringing in downtown Olympia's cupcake queen, Cecilia Mikler and her successful business, Bonjour Cupcakes (730 Sleater-Kinney Road, Lacey). Bonjour will have a grand-opening celebration at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb 9. The Oly Rollers derby girls will be in the cupcake house helping with giveaways such as Bonjour cupcakes, T-shirts and derby bout tickets. CHOCOALTE AND WINE

Chocolate and wine are matrimony of sheer delicious bliss. From noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 Medicine Creek Winery (947 Old Pacific Hwy., Olympia) will host its 5th annual Chocolate & Wine Festival. FACTS ON MONDAY

If you're not feeling up to laughs and cocktails on Monday, maybe you're up for testing your knowledge. The Office Bar and Grill (813 Pacific Ave., Tacoma) doles out the trivia at 8:30 p.m. every Monday. Each week features a theme. What's he theme this Monday? COMEDY AND WELLS

Of course we discuss comedy in Food Matters, especially when $2 wells and $4 personal pizzas are on the menu. The New Frontier Lounge (301 E. 25th St., Tacoma) hosts a comedy open mic night every Monday beginning at 8:30 p.m. Amateur comics can come test their skills while you laugh with or at them. You can test your drinking skills while the comedians laugh with or at you.

FAT TUESDAY

Fat Tuesday is abundant with many decadent luxuries including culinary delights. Doyle's Pub House (208 Saint Helens Ave., Tacoma) will serve Cajun-inspired dishes such as shrimp po'boy, chicken and sausage jambalaya, and gumbo with red beans, rice and Andouille sausage from 11-1 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12. It's a solid way to fuel the night's shenanigans.
