DIRTY OSCAR'S BREAKFAST

Dirty Oscar's Annex (2309 Sixth Ave., Tacoma) is known for turning traditional breakfast favorites into gastro pub fare. Hello braised elk hash! Friday, March 1 Chef Aaron Grissom introduces a few new early-morning dishes to the mix, including a Manchego Benedict, daily quiche specials as well as several new omelet options and waffle selections. Breakfast runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

FLAPJACKS!

It's not often we run across a corporate chain hosting a benefit event. Applebee's (1919 S. 72nd St., Tacoma) will host a Flapjack Fundraiser Breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, March 9 including flapjacks, bacon, eggs and sausage for $10 a ticket. Proceeds benefit Relay for Life of Tacoma team Aspire to Panacea.

CAPITAL FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL

The 24th version of the popular Capital Food and Wine Festival will take place noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 23 at the Hal and Inge Marcus Pavilion and Norman Worthington Conference Center on the Saint Martin's University campus in Lacey. Festivities include a focus on local wineries, breweries and restaurants accompanied by live music from two stages. Tickets are available for purchase at the following locations: Ralph's Thriftway, Bayview Thriftway, TwinStar Credit Union and the University's Marcus Pavilion office. VIP tickets can be pre-purchased for $15 through March 23; general admission tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event for $20. SUKIYAKI DINNER

The Tacoma Buddhist Temple (1717 S. Fawcett, Tacoma) hosts its annual sukiyaki dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3. You may enjoy a one-pot meal of thinly sliced beef, saifun noodles, tofu, green onions and other vegetables, all lightly sautéed in a flavorful broth - as well as teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef shish kabobs, mochi ice cream and cupcakes, rice and drinks - to raise money for the temple's programs and maintenance costs.
