MONDAY NIGHT SUSHI

Jazzbones (2803 Sixth Ave., Tacoma) has opened its raw sushi bar at 7 p.m. Monday nights during its popular Rockaraoke live band karaoke night.

BEER TASTING

Understanding and tasting styles of beer with Doug Tiede, Great American Beer Festival award-winning brewer every Saturday in February from 1-2:30 p.m. at Morso (9014 Peacock Hill Ave., Gig Harbor). The cost is $20 a class or $75 for the series. Reserve your spot at 253.530.3463.

BLIND WINE TASTING

Morso Wine Bar (9014 Peacock Hill Ave., Gig Harbor) will host a blind wine tasting featuring five of Vinum Distributors top-selling wines from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17.

PANCAKES!

Saint Martin's University students participating in Campus Ministry's annual mission service trip will host a pancake breakfast for the public from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 18 in the Norman Worthington Conference Center (5300 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey). Tickets are $5, which includes pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit, and beverages, and can be purchased at the door or beforehand at the Campus Ministry office.

NEW MENU

Dirty Oscar's Annex (2309 Sixth Ave., Tacoma) will launch a new light-bite dining menu on Monday, Feb. 20. The "Perfect $10" menu combines dining and drinking into one tidy package with near limitless options: $2 beer, $3 shot, $5 wine - your choice plus a $5 Bite to total $10. The $5 Bites include Dirty Oscar's signature flatbread; tempura cauliflower; deep-fried pickles with chili oil aioli; white cheddar and roasted garlic grilled cheese sandwich; sausage and egg breakfast sandwich; grilled naan and peanut curry and more. The "Perfect $10" menu is available daily from 4-6 p.m., after 10 p.m. and Friday noon to 6 p.m. Kitchen open late nightly till 1 a.m.

MARDI GRAS

Morso Wine Bar (9014 Peacock Hill Ave., Gig Harbor) will host a Fat Tuesday Celebration with Cajun cuisine and King Cake frown in from Haydel's Bakery in New Orleans from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.

GOURMET GAME NIGHT

The Bayview School of Cooking (516 W. Fourth Ave., Olympia) will host Seattle-based cookbook author and chef Cynthia Nims who will discuss and cook from her book, Gourmet Game Night, which features bite-size meals for board-game parties, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22. COOKING CLASSES

Chambers Bay's Executive Chef Dustin Joseph and his culinary team are collaborating with Pierce County Parks & Recreation to host a series of cooking and culinary classes. The classes, open to those 21 and older, are held at the Environmental Services Building at Chambers Creek Regional Park (9850 64th St. W., University Place). Joseph and his team instruct participants on various culinary skills, dishes and techniques, with each two-hour class focused on a separate facet of cooking. Space is available for the Sauces 101 class March 12 and Perfect Grilling April 16. Classes are held from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $50 per person or $95 per couple.
