Halloween makes me a little giddy. It's the season to play dress-up, carve pumpkins and get cozy and buckle up for frightfests galore with plenty of horror movies to give you some good scares. I'm a year-round lover of the horror genre but October is a month-long celebration of the scary stuff! When it comes to foodie-themed fun, we could go on the prowl for pumpkin-flavored anything but really, you've likely already done the footwork, so instead we are highlighting some themed fun for those looking for Halloween happenings.

The Zodiac Supper Club is screening Halloween films every night, so as you grill your steak and sip your libations you can get an eyeful of thrills. It'll have your heart all pitter-patter with fear. Nothing like the buzz of adrenaline to accentuate your night out. Come Wednesday and you get to watch it go down on the big screen with the sound on! Halloween Bingo is hosted Oct. 30, accompanied by a DJ in the house. Like New Year's Eve's countdown to midnight, bring in the holiday with a Jell-O shot toast. 1116 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Tacoma

For some family fun, join the Yaymaker Innovation Labs at Chowtown Saturday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m. for some sugar skull decorating. Tickets are $15 and they give you an opportunity to get creative. You have your choice of two different skulls to decorate -- traditional Day of the Dead or Sugar Skull, or create your own versions. Nosh on food truck fare and have a blast. Though keep in mind to dress for the weather. 1602 S Mildred, Tacoma

The Church Cantina is another hot spot that knows how to do Halloween. They gear up for the big day starting early with a Ghost Pirate Halloween Party Saturday, Oct. 26. On Tuesday the 29th, it's Horror Trivia and a costume contest, so bring your horror-loving self and test your scary movie knowledge. On the following day is Horror Movie Night and then of course Halloween itself. You've got days of fun! 5240 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma

Peaks and Pints are the kings and queens of hop-fueled festivities and are presenting their Rocky Horror Pastry Stout shenanigans on Halloween. According to the event page, "Peaks and Pints will screen the subtitle version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with the soundtrack on our 130-inch screen All Hallows' Eve with many pastry stouts on tap. Enjoy delicious pastry stouts while watching the characters get into wacky kerfuffles and break out into song and dance." Tell me that doesn't sound like fun! They go on with a cautionary tale, if you dare: "WARNING: Peaks and Pints Rocky Horror Pastry Stout is meant to be fun. We encourage costumes. If you choose to come as Brad, you might be called an ass@#*&. Also, please don't throw anything. Cheers!" 3816 N 26th St., Basecamp Proctor, Tacoma
