Bite-sized foodie news for your consumption

This summer has been exceptionally mild compared to some which leads me to believe or at least hope that an Indian Summer is in our future. This way we can indulge in more warmed dusk hours of culinary bliss and quiet summer walks with full bellies. I'm daydreaming over here! Naturally, the season calls for more ice cold brews and mobile food options-tis the season, after all.

Strange Brew Tacoma 2019's tagline, "Strange and Wonderful Beers Certain to Allure and Seduce ... Come Behold the Secrets Held Within the Confines of Stainless Steel Vessels ... All Will Be Revealed..." is sure to entice any thirsty types out there. Certainly, it's not just me who will be meandering over to seek a hops and malts fueled adventure Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2-3 from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., $20 gets you a souvenir glass, six taster tickets, and a limited edition poster you can display in your home for bragging rights (note, the poster is only available during presale but tickets can be bought at the door). They've recruited some tasty food trucks to feed the masses with Europa Bistro slinging wood-fired pizza pie on Friday and Texas-styled BBQ available from BBQ2U in the house Saturday.

The list of confirmed breweries is hefty with Bent Bine Brewing, Black Fleet Brewing, Dunagan Brewing, E2W Brewing, Fox Island Brewing, Matchless Brewing, Odd Otter Brewing, Pacific Brewing, Rainy Daze Brewing, RAM Brewing, Tacoma Brewing Co., Tart Cider, Three Magnets Brewing and Wingman Brewing all being in the house! Bring the whole family, kids are allowed (maybe you're lucky enough that one of the brood can play DD). Tickets not required for admission. 1116 Court E., Tacoma, find your tickets on Eventbrite

Here's your friendly reminder, the grand opening of Chowtown is THIS weekend. There will be live music, Jenga, cornhole, a beer garden and loads of food trucks onsite! Tacoma has been daydreaming about this day. Go and get some. 1602 South Mildred, Tacoma

Chelsea Farms Oyster Bar is about to get a revamp! Don't worry, the exquisite ambiance and oysters will still be a main staple, they're undergoing an expansion in the 222 Market space! Sneak in before the end of summer to get your fix because in September they're shutting the doors like a catapillar into a cocoon and will re-emerge with what I anticipate to be a spectacular, beauty of a butterfly. 222 Capitol Way N., Olympia
