Summer lovin', wasn't it a blast? Some of us spent those three short months at the beach, others spent time in the woods isolated from society. Unfortunately, the days are getting shorter, and people seem to forget how to drive when the ground gets wet. If only summer had just one last hurrah before it ended.

Luckily, the Airport Tavern saw the need and filled it. For those of you that have never been to the Airport Tavern, you're missing out on a South Tacoma Way hidden gem. You start feeling the vibe of the bar before you even walk in. Driving up to the venue, the first thing that catches your eye is the bright green and red neon. Walking further you see the doors with propellers for handles, and their logo of a pin-up riding an airplane. You walk in and the vibe is complete. You feel like you're in your buddy's garage and you're ready to have a beer, play pinball and watch the game.

Other than being a great place to hang out with the boys, Airport Tavern is an even better place to watch a live band. If you walk to the back of the bar, there is an empty space that on the right evening is a happy, crazy, mosh pit. So when the need came for a Goodbye Summer Rock Party, it only made sense that the Airport Tavern fill the void. The evening starts at 8 p.m. with the Big Wheel Stunt Show, which has nothing to do with big wheels, or stunts, but still promises to be a fun rock show. Following is Antihero, who you have seen featured at Seattle Hemp-fest. Antihero is introducing Hard Money Saints, who have been rocking the Northwest since 2001. Closing the night is the Stoned Evergreen Travelers, who are a hellbilly rock band out of Tacoma. According to Urban Dictionary: Hellbilly (noun): someone who drinks hard liquor, smokes weed, is fond of cussing and doing things many folks would call blasphemy. Whether that is true or not, I'm not totally sure. I guess if we meet one we will find out.

Sure, summer is ending, but winter could have some good stuff, too. If we look for it. Really hard. However, this is our last chance to raise a glass to the good times we had outside, and look forward to next year's sunny weather. Let's make the most of it. Cheers!
