St. Patrick's Day is one of those holidays that the general public celebrates for the soul purpose of celebrating. Sure, you have your die hard Irishmen that celebrate the holiday because it's part of their heritage; however, for the most part, the society we live in has a fondness for drinking green beer one day a year. No matter how you celebrate this Friday, here is a couple places that you might want to check out. I would recommend showing up fairly early because these places will be PACKED.

In Olympia, O'Blarney's is a spot I would highly recommend checking out Friday. O'Blarney's is an Irish pub on the outskirts of Lacey on Martin Way. This sports bar is a cool hangout 365 days a year. During football season they are packed from open to close on Sunday, playing almost every game. They are also one of the few bars in town that play the major UFC fights. This summer, they are hosting their 4th annual car show Saturday, June 25. The first 100 attendees receive a dash plaque, and the day is full of awards and giveaways. St. Patrick's Day, they will be doing the usual green beer and other Irish favorites, but if you miss this holiday there are plenty more to come.

Next to Arts & Corks on Meridian in Puyallup, is the Twisted Kilt. Being a Scottish sports bar, Twisted Kilt is doing a stellar job at celebrating an Irish holiday. They started their festivities Feb. 27, and going till April 2, they are featuring an Irish-inspired menu. The Irish Hooley Menu has all the Irish favorites, such as corned beef hash and eggs. They are also featuring specialty drinks like a Belfast Boom (Baileys Irish Cream, Guinness, Jameson, Irish Whiskey), and of course Green Beer. Guys, if you are traveling with your significant other on Friday, don't bring your girl here. The wait staff, though beautiful, are dressed a lot like the wait staff at Hooters. So maybe tuck this location away for a guys night out.

As great as this holiday is whichever way you celebrated it, we unfortunately live in a society where we can't control people's decisions. There will be people out there that tend to mix alcohol with driving. I strongly encourage that you're not one of them on this holiday, or any of the other 364 days of the year. Know your limits, call a friend, call your mom, or just call a cab! For my safety and yours. CHEERS!
